Properly managing sleep apnea can reduce the risk of flu-related hospitalization.
Dr. Young from Shore Dental SleepCare shares an article and gives a brief explanation on the relationship between poor sleep apnea management and flu hospitalization.
For those patients who have a hard time managing their sleep apnea and related symptoms, it has been seen that there is an observable trend in flu hospitalizations. Patients who failed to comply with CPAP were nearly five times more likely to suffer from a respiratory condition, such as those arising from flu, than those who adhered.
As determined by hospitalization rates, CPAP treatment is found to reduce the severity of influenza infection according to an online study published in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine.
