Meet The Doctor

Dr. John Young has been practicing Orthodontics in Monmouth and Ocean county since 1993. Graduating Summa Cum Laude from both Adelphi University and Georgetown University School of Dentistry, Dr. Young went on to complete his residency in Orthodontics at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. In addition to graduating with honors, he was inducted into the dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Dr. Young is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the Middle Atlantic Association of Orthodontics, and the Monmouth/Ocean County Dental Society.

In 2013, Dr. Young was diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). He attempted C-PAP Therapy but was unsuccessful due to how disrupted his sleep was while wearing it. Dr. Young was then recommended to try Oral Appliance Therapy by a colleague and was fitted for a custom sleep apnea appliance. Since wearing his appliance every night, Dr. Young's sleep apnea has been reduced from severe to mild apnea, and now feels more rested throughout the day. Dr. Young was so inspired by the change that this appliance made to his life that he decided to become board certified in Dental Sleep Medicine in order to help others find the relief he found through Oral Appliance Therapy.

Since 2013, Dr. Young has successfully treated hundreds of cases ranging from mild to severe sleep apnea. In that time, he has continued his studies and education in Dental Sleep Medicine, becoming triple board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, the Academy of Clinical Sleep Disorders Discipline, and the American Sleep and Breathing Association. Dr. Young continues to study and work with other doctors in the Dental Sleep Medicine community in improving and advancing Oral Appliance Therapy.

In addition to treating sleep apnea and orthodontics, Dr. Young is a member of the Regional Cleft Palate Team at Monmouth Medical Center, where he is also a clinical instructor for the department of dentistry. He is also certified by the American Academy of Facial Esthetics. He has also furthered his education with advanced training, diagnosis and management of patients with Temporomandibular Dysfunction (TMJ) and Dento-Facial Orthopedics. Dr. Young currently lives in Colts Neck with his wife and four daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, traveling and spending time with his family.
